What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. They let a site recognise a returning browser, remember a preference, and count visitors without asking anyone to sign in. Browsers also offer local storage and session storage, which do a similar job with more room. This page covers all three, because listing only the cookies would understate what is on your machine.
Session items disappear when you close the tab. Persistent items stay until they expire or you clear them.

Everything below is first-party, set on trymargin.io, readable only by us. Nothing here follows you to another site.

<key> is our public PostHog project key. It identifies the project, not you.
Session replay
PostHog also records a session replay: a reconstruction of your visit showing mouse movement, scrolling and clicks, which we watch to find parts of the page that confuse people.
Everything you type is masked. Text entered into any input is replaced before the replay is stored. Nothing typed on this site is recoverable from a recording.
Replays are deleted after 30 days.
Do Not Track stops it. With the signal on, PostHog never starts, so there is no recording and no cookie.
We also record clicks on page elements, clicks that hit nothing, and repeated clicks in one spot. That is how a broken link or a button that looks clickable and is not gets found.
What we do not use
This section exists because most cookie notices are mostly about advertising, and a reader is entitled to know whether ours is hiding some in the middle of a long list.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies: we do not advertise. Nothing on this site is wired to an ad network.
- No social media pixels or share widgets: no Meta pixel, no LinkedIn Insight tag, no X pixel.
- No data brokers, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking.
- No email tracking pixels: we send no marketing email at all.
The site loads exactly two third-party services in your browser: PostHog, and Sentry for error reports. Sentry sets no cookies; it sends an error and a stack trace when something breaks. There is no third one.
Your choices
Do Not Track: we honour it. If your browser sends the signal, analytics never starts: no identifier, no replay, no cookie. Most sites ignore this; we chose not to, because a company selling honest handling of other people’s data should not override an explicit opt-out for a rounding error of signal.
Block or clear cookies in your browser: every browser lets you clear cookies and site data, block them for a site, or block them generally. The instructions live in your browser’s settings under privacy. Nothing on this site breaks if you block all of it, because there is no login and no cart to lose.
Clear local storage: clearing site data for trymargin.io removes the theme preference and the analytics identifier together.
Why there is no cookie banner
We have not built one. Saying so is more useful than describing a consent dashboard that does not exist. If you are in a jurisdiction where consent is required before analytics runs, use Do Not Track or block cookies for this site, and we will collect nothing. If we add a banner, this page changes with it.
Changes
If we add or remove something, this page and the date at the top change with it. The table above is meant to be complete. If you find something in your browser from this site that is not on it, tell us and we will either explain it or remove it.
